1. When did you first fall in love with fashion?

If I could remember infancy, I would have to guess it was as soon as I gained eyesight. There was nothing I loved more as a child than dressing up in my mother’s clothes, putting on makeup and styling my hair. I’m sure the end result was a lip-stick smeared four-year-old shimmying down the halls, trying to keep the shoes on her feet that were many sizes too large while tripping over a dragging dress. My grandmother was the ultimate fashion lover who made many of her own clothes and her children’s. We sewed dresses together, matching dresses for me and for my dolls. It is her classic elegance that radiates through me as an adult and inspires every look I create.

2. When/Why did you first decide to start a blog?

In January of 2014, I met a boy who happened to be a photographer. I was finishing up my degree in Fashion Merchandising and wanted to have a portfolio to showcase my work as a stylist. So, the boy and I decided to make a baby, and thus Touting My Wears was born. The name signifies the blog’s purpose. (I always giggle when I hear people pronounce it ‘tooting’ so, just in case, it rhymes with pouting)

3. What is your favorite part of blogging?

I love the creative freedom it allows. I have no one to consult and nothing to lose if no one views what I post. I blog for the sake of creativity, and there are literally no rules. That doesn’t mean I don’t set my own goals and strive to meet them, but those goals are always flexible and changing depending on what opportunities come along. I also very much enjoy working with local businesses that I love in the Richmond area, collaborating on shoots, promoting each other with the beautiful images we create.

4. What draws you to the Sweetest Stitch brand?

Feeling comfortable while looking amazing can be tough to pull off, but Sweetest Stitch carries comfy clothes that are equally attractive. My day-to-day style tends to be full of soft and flowy neutrals, especially dresses that can double as nightgowns, and they really have that covered. Pajama chic is a new way of life.

5. What are five spring essentials everyone needs?

-Cullotes

-High-waist, skinny jeans
-Simple sandals in a neutral color
-Cotton midi skirt

6. Who are your favorite fashion bloggers to follow?

Stylist, Kelly Framel of The Glamourai
Photographer & Creator of the Cinemagraph, Jamie Beck
Fashion Blogger at colorindex.us, Monlinglee

7. What is your favorite Sweetest Stitch item on the site?

Loving the Right on Time Romper!

8. What is your favorite sweet treat?

Oooo this is tough! It’s a tie between mint chocolate chip ice cream and anything with salted caramel.

9. Tell us about your new business. What kind of styling and photo projects are you working on?

Paul (the boy) and I have recently launched our photography business, and we’re focusing on the wedding industry. We also do fashion, family and other miscellaneous shoots. I am a hairstylist on the DL, so I’m offering hairstyling services on shoots or for weddings in addition to fashion styling. I would love to work with brides and grooms who would like to be styled for their engagement shoot to look more like a fashion spread. We work with Carytown Optical Shoppe and Tailor on product shots. I’m in the process of planning a styled shoot with Verdalina, and we have several weddings coming up soon!

9. Where are your going on your next big trip?

Next BIG trip is yet to be determined, but I’m equally torn between a tropical retreat and a European adventure.
