It's summer time and there are lots of excuses to celebrate: baby showers, weddings, graduations, and downright beautiful weather. You don't always have to go out for a drink to celebrate. We've put together a list of five places in Richmond, VA to celebrate with something sweet.
For those hot days, nothing else will do but fresh, cold ice cream. Turn to Gelati Celesti who makes Italian ice cream in small batches. They have three locations in the West End and in Bon Air. Get the full list here.
If you are thirsty, you should drink a glass of water. It you are craving a sweet drink, you should walk to Rocket Fizz. The shop has an eclectic mix of soda flavors. Nothing will keep you sweeter than an ice cold Martian Soda on a hot summer's day. Try out some of the store's retro candy collection while you're there too. Visit out the location in Carytown.
Pearl's Cupcake Shoppe
There is no more classic way to celebrate than sharing a well-made cupcake with a friend. The richest and biggest cupcakes in Richmond come from Pearl's Cupcake Shoppe. The shoppe also has breakfast specialty items like veggie and meat frittatas, berry turnovers, and muffins for those mornings that need a little boost.
Sugar Shack Donuts
The secret is out about this Richmond-bred donut brand. They are now serving in new store as far away as Florida! Good thing they still have three locations in Richmond and a food cart. Pick up a dozen before your next girl's weekend or treat your mom to one of their lavender lattes!
You never thought a burger joint would be the place to look for sweets, right? Station 2 downtown offers a selection of floats, milkshakes and "adult" milkshakes. From the Pepsi Cola float (with vanilla ice cream, Pepsi, chocolate syrup and whipped cream) to the Naughty Girl Scout adult milkshake (with vanilla ice cream, irish cream, creme de menthe, creme de cacao, & chocolate chips) you'll find something to fit every craving here.
